Haha... I like ur description - "like cough syrup". Can't agree more. I think it's a bit like the cherry flavor sweets - strepsils
If you find yourself in Korea I would recommend drinking a flower wine called Sansachun. It's made from sansa fruit. It's light, slightly fruity and delicious! And tastes nothing like cough syrup.
